The chair’s smart and refined silhouette, expression of craftsmanship and design, conquers the AZ Awards 2017 contest jury.

The authoritative Canadian design and architecture publication – Azure – unveils in its July/August issue, the 20 winning projects and the 50 finalists of the AZ Awards 2017 competition. 
At its seventh edition, AZ Awards, promoted by Azure magazine, is the only international multidisciplinary design contest in Canada that every year appeals design and architecture key players.
Organised by the renowned contemporary design magazine, AZ Awards selects and rewards all the best in the field of design and architecture. For this edition as well, the winning projects and finalists originate from an accurate assessment work by a jury of 5 esteemed professionals, whose task was to examine 813 projects coming from 41 countries. 

 

Among the 50 finalists, the jury also included Sign Filo. The chair, designed by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga for MDF Italia, celebrates with a new and refined look the first decade of an icon from the collection, the Sign chair. 

The designer reinterpreted the initial project, highlighting the original concept and emphasising the chair’s iconic nature by using a new material such as wire, new and precious finishes such as gold, pink gold and black chrome and a creative process that reminds the ancient goldsmith’s technique of filigree. 
For MDF Italia this international award represents a further confirmation of the success and appreciation the product got on January on its debut at Colony Furniture Exhibition and more recently at Salone del Mobile Milan.
