Three distinct scenarios become the ground for experimenting with this new narrative: in a bright living room, the white version, in its most iconic form, appears as a discreet and functional presence, in dialogue with everyday life. In the more intimate and cosy study, the Canaletto walnut version transforms into a graphic wall with a strong character, while in the reading area it is colour itself that takes centre stage, turning Random into a striking visual statement.

When, in 2005, the German studio Neuland Industriedesign conceived Random, the very idea of the bookcase was radically transformed. No longer merely a container, it became an architecture capable of turning the wall into an unexpected graphic sign. The irregular arrangement of the shelves broke away from the tradition of symmetry and inaugurated an essential and radical aesthetic, where form and function coexist with ease.
In a short time, Random assumed a central role within MDF Italia’s collection: in 2006 it was selected for the XXI Compasso d’Oro ADI and, since then, it has continued to embody a new way of experiencing space. Random is a system that organises, while at the same time leaving room for the unforeseen, embracing books, objects and personal memories as an integral part of its composition.
Over the years, it has evolved into a recognisable family of products, able to integrate seamlessly with both residential and professional environments. Always true to its identity, Random reinvents itself each time, imparting rhythm and personality to the space.
