Goom: the shape of comfort

A sofa with generous volumes and an essential silhouette, offering unexpectedly high comfort: this is the concept behind Goom, an upholstered system designed by Jean Marie Massaud, with whom MDF Italia has built a long-standing partnership rooted in shared values of lightness and synthesis.

The project draws on a compact solid that yields to gravity, revealing an unexpected softness.

Featuring a modular system of individual units in different sizes, depths and shapes, Goom combines a defined profile with a welcoming seat, designed to encourage relaxation while conveying an image that is consistently composed and orderly, in line with the brand’s aesthetic codes.

An in-depth study of materials, combined with the use of differentiated-density padding and pneumatic foams, has made it possible to achieve a high level of comfort, while the use of recycled components and wood sourced from responsibly managed forests confirms a design vision oriented toward environmental sustainability. The rigour and compactness of the sofa are softened by the upward-tensioned ends of the cushions, which elongate the silhouette with discretion and elegance.

From the corner unit to the chaise longue, each element is designed to offer flexible comfort, tailored to individual needs and suited to a wide range of residential settings. Combined together, the modules allow for large linear or curved compositions that respond to space and the changing rhythms of everyday life; individually, they define more intimate islands designed for moments of rest and quiet. The upholstery, which fully covers backrest and seat, enhances the softness of the design, naturally inviting you to sit back and stretch out.
