MDF ITALIA AT POLITECNICO DI MILANO FOR IMPRESA DOCET

24-07-2016

MDF Italia was the protagonist of the third Impresa Docet at Politecnico di Milano.

Impresa Docet is a meeting program promoted by ADI (Associazione per il Disegno Industriale - Association for Industrial Design) since 2010 and organised by ADI Company Department, for the purpose of creating a dialogue among companies, Italian design professionals and students.
Impresa Docet is an opportunity to meet young talents – future architects, interior designers, project managers. During the event, the company gets in the chair, becomes a “professor” to teach the company’s conditions of success, as well as the meaning of Italian design in the world.

It was Umberto Cassina, MDF Italia CEO, to tell about MDF Italia, the significant milestones of the short but intense company path, from 1992 up to now, the numerous and meaningful awards including the longed-for Gold Compass in 2011, the acquisition of the brand by the family holding, a new beginning, a new horizon, as well as the new managerial challenges imposed by the market.

Supporting the President, architect Piergiorgio Cazzaniga, a great interpreter of the company philosophy, who concluded the presentation with an avid and passionate tale, full of anecdotes and personal memories that made even more interesting and involving the description of the many MDF Italia projects: from M1 chair, resulting from the architect’s long reflection, to Dino Gavina’s enigma to develop a chair with a metal frame but seamless, to the latest project - Tense Material - introduced at Salone del Mobile 2016. Tense Material represents the evolution of the Tense table, a 2009 project developed in collaboration with his son Michele, a best seller of the collection that was awarded in 2011 with the Honorable Mention on XXI Gold Compass.
